While using my Zelmer wet-cleaning vacuum cleaner, the brush head began falling off because the mounting part holding it had broken. I decided to rebuild the broken plastic part using superglue and baking soda as a filler. We prepare the part by filing the break and the surrounding area:
We pour some baking soda into a small container. I bought 505 superglue, although I have serious doubts about its authenticity; it was simply what was on sale:
We degrease the filed areas of the break with acetone. I use nail-polish remover:
We apply glue to the broken areas and sprinkle them with baking soda. By alternating layers of baking soda and glue, we build up material to replace the missing plastic:
Once the layer of baking soda and superglue has been built up, file and cut away the excess using a sharp knife and a file:
After removing the excess baking soda, we paint over it with nail polish:
The broken plastic part has now been repaired. If you need to fix a similar problem, you can use this article as an example.
I will be glad if someone finds this article useful.
