I bought a low-power 10 W hot-glue gun. These do not come with an on/off switch, and buying one with a switch immediately increases the price by a third, even though the switch itself costs very little. So I decided to buy an on/off switch and fit it to this small gun.
We take the gun apart and choose where to fit the on/off switch:
We cut an opening in the glue-gun handle with a pocket knife, fit the switch and glue the joint between
We bend the switch terminals so they do not get in the way when reassembling the handle, cut the brown wire, and solder its ends to the on/off switch terminals:
We fit heat-shrink tubing and heat it with a lighter to shrink it around the soldered wire:
We reassemble the glue gun with the switch fitted:
The on/off switch is fitted in the glue-gun handle.
